North Coast Dental Group began in 1956 as an independent practice on the Keeler Street Circle. Its founder, Dr. Stanley Handelman, who became chairman of the Department of General Dentistry at the Eastman Dental Center, partnered with Dr. Jack Howitt, a pediatric dentist who also practiced in the same neighborhood. The two dentists combined their practices in the late 1960s at 1400 Portland Avenue.
As the busy office attracted more and more patients, its founders reached out to some of the most respected dentists they knew at the Eastman Dental Center. Drs. Brenner, Levy, Musiker and Weiner all came to Rochester to complete their specialty education at the Eastman Dental Center, and all four found Rochester to be a great place to raise their families. They moved the practice to its current location at 1875 Hudson Avenue in 1998. The same group practice model of General Dentistry and Pediatric Dentistry continues today.
The partnership between these four dentists was a natural choice, because they all share a philosophy of continuous learning, teaching and serving their community. All four have trained the next generation of dentists, teaching at the Eastman Dental Center as well as at area hospitals. Beyond their private practice and their staff positions at Strong Memorial Hospital and Rochester General Hospitals, North Coast Dental Group's partners have provided their services to Westside Health Center, the Smilemobile, the Mary M. Gooley Hemophilia Center, The Genesee Hospital, and Andover Dental Center.
Today, North Coast Dental Group offers comprehensive services to its patients of every age. We have built a staff of highly skilled hygienists, assistants and administrators—all focused on ensuring a positive dental care experience for you and your children. Many staff members have been with the practice for many years, so you will see familiar welcoming faces each time you visit the office.
North Coast Dental Group's dentists are members of the Monroe County Dental Society, the New York State Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. Drs. Brenner and Levy are also members of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
